The online lecture and dialogue will trace the conceptual evolution of sustainability through the projects and research of John Hong’s Seoul National University–based lab, Project : Architecture. The talk examines how sustainability has progressed from material- and energy-based strategies toward typological transformations of buildings and urban form. Ultimately, the discussion questions whether the human-centered notion of the “Anthropocene” must be fundamentally rethought in favor of a more integrated relationship between architecture and the environment.
